The history of the car which became a legend started in 60s. It was time when Ford released its first model Ford Mustung. At first this model was called Cougar. But then it took the name of Mustang because it was very like the American fighter Р-31 Mustang. One of the key elements in the success of is model was the list of additional options which could be installed. For example, you were given an opportunity to choose between 34 different variants of interior design. That is why such custom car accessories and not bike accessories made this model very popular not only in the USA but in Europe. For example, Ford sold about 1 million of cars between 1964-1966. And that was a real success. In 1966 Ford started to produce GT version of Mustang. There were different models starting from Shelby GT-350 to Shelby GT-500 depending on the engine and options.

As you know Ford produced Mustang now but most of people like the models which were produced in 60s and 70s which has become history in ny moving. Today people who have these car are very proud of them and spend much time and afford to keep them in good form. They install different accessories such as HID kits or zebra seat covers to improve the ways it looks. But the overall design of such cars remains the same.

toyota-camry-2The history of Toyota Camry started in 1983. This model replaced Toyota Corona and was initially aimed at the US market. If we compare Camry with Honda Accord we will see that it was longer (for about 6 inches) and more powerful (86 horsepower Accord vs. 92 horsepower Camry). There were two variants of transmission on offer, manual that had 5 speed and 4-speed automatic. But if you look at the picture of this car you will understand that the design is old school utilitarian. But at the same time there was a lot of glass area which provided very good visibility.

In three years (1986) a real battle between Accord and Camry began. Honda rolled out a completely different car and Toyota had to do something. In the year of 1987 the second generation of Camry appeared. The engine was improved and put out 115 ponies (it was 17 horse powers more in comparison with Accord). The level of vibration and noise was also decreased. It meant that Accord was for those who wanted to enjoy feedback from their vehicle and Camry suited people who wanted comfortable and quiet car.

1988camryalltracIn 1988 V6 engine appeared as well as all-wheel drive option. 2,5 engine with 153 horsepower made Toyota Camry even more popular in the United States and it was decided to set up production of this car in this country. From this time on Americans could buy Japanese cars produced by American workers. A year later Camry became the fifth best selling car in the United States of America. And in 1991 antilock brakes and knock sensor on the V6 engine were introduced. Toyota Camry LE V6 sedan was also on offer.

The last decade of the 20th century was very interesting in the history of this model. But we will discuss this period in upcoming post.
